FD-IX Indianapolis Hosts Ubiquiti Speedtest Server
Reliable, low-latency performance testing directly on our exchange fabric
Indianapolis, Indiana – September 4, 2025 – FD-IX, the premier Internet Exchange (IXP) for the Midwest, is excited to announce that a Ubiquiti Speedtest server is now live on our Indianapolis fabric. This deployment provides network operators, service providers, and end users with direct, neutral, and high-performance speed testing capabilities anchored at the heart of regional interconnection.
Why This Matters
Speedtest servers play a crucial role in measuring real-world Internet performance. By hosting the server directly inside the FD-IX Indianapolis exchange, members and regional users benefit from:
- Accurate Testing – Measurements reflect true interconnection quality without detours through distant test nodes.
- Lower Latency – Testing traffic remains within the exchange fabric, ensuring near-real-time results.
- Regional Accessibility – Indiana and Midwest networks can test performance without relying solely on out-of-state or Tier-1 hosted servers.
- Neutrality – As a neutral IXP, FD-IX ensures unbiased and transparent testing paths.
Empowering the Midwest Internet Ecosystem
For ISPs, enterprise networks, and community providers, this deployment makes it easier to validate connections, monitor user experiences, and troubleshoot issues with confidence. Combined with FD-IX’s existing route servers, rich member ecosystem, and local peering opportunities, the addition of a Ubiquiti speedtest server further enhances the value of keeping traffic local.
“This speedtest node reinforces our commitment to delivering tools that help Midwest networks grow stronger, faster, and more reliable,” said the FD-IX team. “It’s another step toward building a thriving, connected community across the region.”
